I want a netbook. Don’t you?

Why get a netbook?
I. Always in backpack
I. More expendable than MacBook if lost/broken/stolen
I. Can give to kids when done
I. I want a new toy ( so what’s new? )
I. Photo viewer/card backup
I. Video monitor?
I. WordPress local server for testing (too much work?)

Apps needed
I. Evernote
I. Skype
I. Firefox with extensions
I. Address book MAC?
I. Open Office
I. Video editing, What app?
I. Photo editing, What app?
I. Google Earth
I. Mac OS X, if I ever had the time to do this.
I. Ubuntu, esp if I can dual boot

Extra costs
I. 2nd battery (gonna try to do without, as they are expensive)
I. Bigger RAM (cheap $25 for 2 gigs)
I. Carry case
I. AA battery based power system?

Which one?
I. Lenovo S10, because it has an ExpressCard slot and looks pretty capable
I. It also can be made into a Hackintosh, if I ever have the time to break a EULA.

Updates to this list will be made in Evernote to be Found here.

I’m a big fan of Evernote. You should check it out.  I just learned I can publish one of my notebooks online. Pretty cool.

  • I use it on my 2 macs and my phone to make notes.
  • I can use it on any computer with a browser and Internet access.
  • Every time I add or change a note, it syncs in all devices.
  • It can “read” from pictures, meaning it scans the text of things I like.
  • It’s searchable. I search a word, it gives me all the notes that have the word. Including ones scanned from pictures.
  • It makes a record of my GPS coordinates when I send via my phone.
  • It lets me make public notes (see below) The default is set to private, btw.
  • It’s free since I don’t use it as much as a “heavy” user that has to pay. I like it so much, I may start paying for it anyway.
  • Here is my public Evernote notebook:

Check out Niel Young’s work converting a 1959 Lincoln to Electric. Hopefully, this will turn into something big. It’s pretty cool.
