The Day I Learned the Call of a Very Familiar Bird
This is a short-form audio series about creativity, nature, and living your best life. Get it where you get your podcast and at the bottom of the show notes page.
Pre-pre-pre. That’s what the tufted titmouse says.
Pre-pre-pre! (Who knew!?)
I’m hoping he’ll do it again. He’s over by the feeder. And that is a new call for a not new bird, meaning I know this bird very well because he is the first at the feeder the boldest the most local of the yard.
The tufted titmouse and the Carolina Chickadee are good buddies and they are always around.
That is the first time I’ve noticed a titmouse calling and it said pre-pre-pre. I heard it and I thought wow I’ve never heard that before. I’m hoping he’ll do it again.
A crow. Also a local.
I am recording with my phone, my iPhone, which doesn’t work that well frankly, but it’s the only thing I’ve got. So I’m hoping to just capture that titmouse call.
I’m sitting in my backyard. I was planning to meditate but then a bluebird came by and the bluebirds are new to us. They’ve probably been here all along we haven’t noticed them except for this spring, so they are a welcome addition.
But of course the titmouse and the chickadee, they are regulars so it’s fun to hear that call.
I’ll catch it again. I probably won’t get it now. He’s already flown away.
It’s nice to be excited by such small things!
