A Podcast Inspired by a Connection to the Wild Geese Call
Recently in my backyard, I caught an old familiar sound of some wild Canada Geese flying by.
I was inspired to reflect on what that sound meant to me and how we can become more aware of our connections to meaningful things.
Later that day, I wrote a poem to explore the idea further.
The Echo of Wildness – Poem
That echo.
Yes, I know it.
Yes! Yes! Wild geese!
Reaching,
Reaching,
Back,
Deep.
Into memory. Into association.
Resonating
Echoing
Reminding
Connecting sound to heart.
Then to now.
I stop, and listen.
And reverberate.
Then they fade; echo and memory.
And I’m left humming in wonder.
Wondering what am I doing with my wild and precious life?
Further Inspiration
The last line of that poem was inspired by the poem “The Summer Day” by one of my favorite poets, Mary Oliver.
Mary Oliver’s poetry reminds us that connection with nature is a great source of inspiration and healing.
“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination…” -Mary Oliver
